Wet systems use a combination of water and air pressure, centrifugal force, internal baffles and a range of other technologies to move dust through water. Dangerous particles are then trapped and forced to the bottom of the tank, deposited as a sludge, and cleaned out.

Depending on your industry, regulations may require wet dust collection as a safety measure. If a Dust Hazards Analysis indicates that your operation generates dust that fits any of the following criteria, it may be best collected using a wet system:

• Combustible metallic dusts (i.e. niobium, titanium, aluminum, hafnium, tantalum, zirconium, and magnesium)
• Light, very fine, and hygroscopic dusts
• Abrasive particulates that damage fabric filters
